Alan Douglas

Alan joined Nicholson Portnell in 2018 and was appointed a partner in 2021.

Alan is a member of the specialist body the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. He qualified as a solicitor in 2008, and specialises in private client work, in particular the following;

  • administration of deceased estates
  • drafting of Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney
  • advising on care home fee planning
  • Court of protections matters, including appointment of beneficiaries
  • administration of trusts and associated matters.

Originally from South West Scotland, Alan studied law in Newcastle and has remained in the North East ever since.

Away from the office Alan enjoys sport of any description, but particularly rugby, football and athletics, and has a keen interest in modern rock music.
