Have you ever considered what you might do if you were arrested and had to attend the police station for an interview? Do you know what your rights are? Most people will probably think that they do not need to, because it will never happen to them.

We have represented numerous clients who have never been in trouble before, who consider themselves to be law-abiding citizens and did not think being arrested or questioned by the police would ever happen to them. However, due to particular circumstances anyone can find themselves falling foul of the law and in the unfamiliar surroundings of the police station. Whether it is your first time at the police station or not, it can be a nerve racking and distressing time. In the unfamiliar environment of a police station, you will often feel vulnerable and out of your depth.

If you are at the police station and are to be questioned by the police you should always ask to have a legal representative present. We have seen many people who are unrepresented in the police station and fail to do justice to their case.

At Nicholson Portnell we offer a 24 hour service 365 days a year in relation to representation at the police station, which means we can be there day or night to represent you. This will ensure that you are properly represented and receive any advice that you need in relation to the procedure or the law. Representation at the police station is completely free to everyone.

We represent clients in any Magistrates, Crown Court and police station on a daily basis. We are one of only two solicitors firms in Hexham who have a criminal Legal Aid contract. If you are charged with an offence we can advise you, arrange for you to be represented in any Magistrates or Crown Court proceedings and let you know whether you are eligible for Legal Aid.

We offer a no obligation 20 minute free initial appointment. If you would like advice in relation to these or other related legal matters please contact Catherine Little
